Comments Comments

Today’s assignment was to explore the same prompt from Monday through the eyes of of your fellow bloggers. Read 6 blogs and leave comments on at least 2.As you read, ask yourselves: how did the author approach the prompt? How was the post structured? Was there anything particularly creative or original done that you could take inspiration from? Did they interpret it in a way that would have never occurred to your? Reading and finding inspiration in others’ writing is a foolproof way to preempt writer’s block — and it teaches you new ways to re-imagine prompts.

I posted on the beach, which you can read here if you missed it (and I had edited it to add in pictures) here.

I had limited time this morning to work on this assignment so far. But there were 2 blogs that really stuck out to me on how they used the Places prompt. The first blogger wrote about her favorite place being at the ball field. Her husband coaches, her kids play baseball, she loves the game and experience of being at the game, and you could just feel the joy and her pride in being at that place.

The second blog took a picture some very colorful houses/doors in his neighborhood. It was more about a pop-of-color in this place near him.

There were a few other blogs that I had visited and commented on, most all related to the beach like my post, or they were of something that reminded them of home.

I hope you will read my Places post on the beach (and click the link to my Oceans post to see some pictures), and leave some extra comments today 🙂

Stopping to smell the flowers

My mother in law has several gardens in her back yard.  We were over there today and while we were playing with our son outside, I snapped these beauties from my iPhone.  I love flowers and wanted to share a little of that love with you.

Decisions Decisions

Well yesterday I decided (finally) to take the plunge and commit myself to going back to school.  But it’s not school in the sense that most of you are thinking.  I will be going to photography school, in the evenings and weekends, around my regular work schedule.  Classes start March 19th and the semester is through mid-June.  I’m excited and nervous at the same time.  My short term goal is just to further develop my photography skills and gain some knowledge about DSLR camera’s and ultimately purchase one.  My longer term goal is to turn this hobby into a part-time, side business.  While I would love for your support and encouragement on my new journey, I would REALLY love your HELP.  First, any suggestions of what DSLR camera to get to start off with, would be appreciated.  Second, I need to develop a name for my (eventual) photography business and would love any and all suggestions on what to call it.  I would like to have some part of my name (Stacey Archer)  incorporated somehow, but it’s not a necessity.  Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments section.  And if you have never seen my photography before, you can scroll through the blog, or you can go over the right side of the blog, find the words Mile Markers, and click on the link called Photography and the link called Weekly Photo Challenge, which will take you to all posts that I have tagged regarding my photography.  Thanks again for any input you can offer.

Photo editing

Here’s a question for all my photographer blogging friends:  What are some good, free sites to use for photo editing?  (hopefully ones that are relatively easy to use)

I am a huge fan of Picnik, but sadly they are closing in April.  I will be sure to take advantage of their free premium upgrade for all until then, but I need ideas from you all what is a good replacement, since I love to take pictures and share them with you all.  Please help 🙂
