Twitter

I have had a twitter account for almost 2 years and really haven’t used it too much.  I think its because I’m not entirely sure how to use it to the fullest.  So if anyone wants to help me and/or follow me, my twitter name is:  MsStaceyArcher.

Dirty Laundry

I came across this email and thought it had a great message for all of us:

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood.
The next morning while they were eating breakfast,
the young woman saw her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
That laundry is not very clean,’ she said.
She doesn’t know how to wash correctly.
Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.’

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry,
the young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a

nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:

‘Look, she has learned how to wash correctly.
I wonder who taught her this.’

The husband said,

‘I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.’

And so it is with life.

What we see when watching others
depends on the window through which we look.

A Night at the Fair

Last night I went to the Los Angeles County Fair with my old roommate Sara and her mom.  We had the best time.  We walked around, took lots of colorful pictures, played around with photo settings, enjoyed some fattening fair food, did a little shopping, and shared a lot of laughs.  The best part of all was being able to cross something off of my bucket list, that I have wanted to do for a long time.  I have blogged about my love of elephants before, and here is me living out a dream:

It was so amazing being up there (thankfully it was a smaller elephant).  The ride went by way to quickly, but I cherished every second of it.  I have no idea who those people were; they wouldn’t let you ride alone 😦

Here’s more pictures from last night:

My ABC’s

I stole this from my blogging buddy Sharon, who stole it from someone, who stole it from someone…lol. (Feel free to steal it from me and answer it in your own post).

A. Age: I’m in my 30’s but won’t tell you exactly.  But I pretend that I’m forever 27, at least for a little while longer, as I’m told I don’t look  in my 30’s, so I figured I can get away with it.

B. Bed size: Queen

C. Chore that you hate: Washing dishes and laundry

D. Dogs: don’t have any….but I prefer medium to large sized dogs and hope one day to have one.

E. Essential start to your day:  starts with a shower to wake up, followed by a protein shake

F. Favorite color:  red

G. Gold or Silver: white gold for nice jewelry.  For everyday wear, I tend to wear silver.

H. Height: 5’5″

I. Instruments you play:  in school I played the clarinet and bass clarinet.  I am currently learning how to play the native american flute for a flute circle we have at work.  we will be performing at our Christmas luncheon.

J. Job title:  Service Coordinator for developmentally disabled (basically like a social worker)

K. Kids: Not yet, but I want at least 2

L. Live: Los Angeles

M. Mother’s name: Sharon (not the Sharon I stole this from)

N. Nicknames: Stace, Cheese (only my sister calls me that)

O. Overnight hospital stays: surprisingly none

P. Pet peeves: liars, people that don’t keep their word, people who are late

Q. Quote from a movie:

  1. Annie: You read my diary?
  2. Brynn: At first, I did not know it was your diary. I thought it was a very sad, handwritten book.  (from Bridesmaids) – I hope people don’t think that when they read my blog posts…..

S. Siblings: 1 sister, she is 2 1/2 years younger, unless we are sticking with my forever 27 theory, then I am now 3 years younger 🙂

U. Underwear:  Yes, I wear it, and often it does not match.

V. Vegetable you hate: I love vegetables. I think the only one I don’t really care for is brussell sprouts.

W. What makes you run late: I am never late. I am usually early or right on time.  Since I have moved and now have to go with traffic in the morning to work, it has slowed me down and made me a little late.  I have tried leaving earlier and it does not make a difference.

X. X-Rays you’ve had:  My foot, my knee, my head, chest/lungs, back, dental..lol

Y. Yummy food that you make: I make a lot of mexican and italian foods.  I think my current favorite is chicken enchilladas.  you can also check out recipes on my SAVORY STUFF page.

Z. Zoo animal: giraffes and elephants.  I also like to see the lions, tigers and bears (oh my!).

Simplify 10/103

Today’s tip to simplify your life is:

10. Turn off your cellphone. A ringing cell-phone is not conducive to intimate conversation or a dreamy first date. Be present.

I don’t know about you, but my cell phone is my lifeline basically.  I don’t have a land line so it’s my only phone source.  I have a Droid X smartphone, so it is also my internet/tv/games/gps source as well.  I have learned to turn it on vibrate/silent when I’m going to bed, since I have blogging buddies all over the globe who post at different times, sending an email alert to my phone.  Also, if I am on a “dreamy first date”, or any date, I also turn it on silent.  Same with work, so I”m not disturbing my co-workers.  The only time my phone is actually turned off is when I’m flying and the pilot tells you to turn your phones off during the flight.  I am never without my phone, with 3 exceptions, when I was in Ukraine, England, and Africa.  Obviously, I had no service there, so I left my phone at home.

Do you turn your phone off?  Are you ever without it?

Weekly Photo Challenge : FALL

Fall is my absolute FAVORITE time of year.  It is what I miss the most about living in NY.  There was such a crispness in the air, the beauty of the leaves changing colors, the crunching sound of the leaves underfoot, that had fallen from the trees, the colorful pumpkins, the brightness of the sunflowers, the crunch of crisp, sweet apples, and the smell of fresh apple pies baking from the apples you just picked.  It would send me into a heavenly sensory overload!  The good news, for me, is that I am going back there next month, and hopefully will get to experience it again.  The good news for you, is that I have put together a few collages to represent  some of my favorites about Fall, so if you don’t live near it, at least you can visually see what I’m talking about.

What is your favorite thing about Fall?
